Job Summary

The Associate is accountable for successful execution of business operations processes within the Elevar Drug Development division including, but not limited to, proposal budget review and negotiation, oversight of contract and budget development for new projects, management of contract amendments, and budget forecasting.

Job Details

  • Assists the Director/VP with the financial management of business operations within Drug Development to meet department and company-level goals
  • Work cross functionally within clinical development teams (Clinical Operations, Biometrics, Drug Safety and Pharmacovigilance, Quality Assurance, Corporate Strategy and Legal) to define and review vendor contract proposals and budgets
  • Provides timely and accurate input to drug development plans including forecasting of timelines, estimation of resources, and program level budget
  • The Associate is responsible for the entire life cycle of vendor selection, including RFI, RFP, vendor selection decision, contracting, monitoring performance, managing the change order process, and ensuring proper closeout of agreements
  • Manage wide spectrum of financial activities for multiple projects, including forecasting, study budgets development, supplier contract financial terms validations, vendor management and variance analysis
  • Assists with preparation of Requests-for-Proposal (RFPs) to support vendor selection for new project efforts within Drug Development
  • Collaborates with Clinical QA to ensure vendors, consultants and contractors are qualified by QA. May help coordinate vendor audits by Elevar Quality Assurance, as needed
  • Collaborates with Elevar Contracts team to develop contract text and budget through negotiation with vendors for new contracts and contract amendments
  • Negotiate and maintain drug development contracts, including CDAs, MSAs, Work Orders, Change Orders for external service providers, consultant agreements and specialty vendor contracts
  • Manage review and approval process for payment invoice and resolve any payment related issues
  • Responsible for Quarterly Financial Review Analysis, accruals, Budget vs. Actuals variances for vendor services
  • Perform high volume of financial activities with numerous clinical service providers (CRO, Specialty Labs, Imaging, Biomarkers, etc.) which requires strong attention to detail, a high level of organization, and aptitude to understand and utilize multiple financial systems and tools
  • Develops spreadsheets and tracking tools and helps manage payment system in collaboration with Accounts Payable
  • Support other departments/functional areas if required for finance related matters

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/experience in science or health-related field required
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in Pharmaceutical, Biotech or CRO industry a plus
  • Experience generating RFPs, RFIs, and study budget/contract templates
  • Experience negotiating global contracts and budgets with both U.S. and international vendors
  • Working knowledge of financial terms and budgeting, clinical trial functions, including clinical operations, data management, biostatistics, and drug safety
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
